The journey
From one member to a group of three airlines.
lotusSkies grew out of a decade in Vietnam’s RO-Aviation community — from a single Roblox account in 2014, through HanoiStar, JetHanoi, FlyHanoi and Vietnam Airlines, to the group that flies under the lotus today.
- 2014
Where it all began
KhangGum joined Roblox as khangfinnmineraft. Taken by the fast-growing RO-Aviation community, he set out to bring the genre home to Vietnam — laying the foundation for what became one of the country’s largest virtual aviation organisations.
- 2016
The birth of HanoiStar
After nearly two years of research and planning, KhangGum partnered with several Filipino friends to establish HanoiStar — one of the first Vietnamese-founded airlines in the Roblox aviation community.
- January 2017
A new beginning
HanoiStar ceased operations: RO-Aviation was still little known in Vietnam, and the early organisation had grown faster than it could be run. Undeterred, KhangGum rebranded to KhangAviation and founded Jetstar Pacific Airlines, flying its first Boeing 737-400.
- July 2017
The rise of JetHanoi
Jetstar Pacific Airlines concluded its operations. On 24 July 2017, JetHanoi was established as the Southeast Asian subsidiary of Lufthansa Roblox — the organisation’s first international partnership.
- November 2017
Growing recognition
JetHanoi passed 500 members, reflecting how quickly it had grown within the Vietnamese RO-Aviation community. KhangAviation adopted the username KhangGum, the name that still represents the organisation today.
- January 2018
Independence and expansion
JetHanoi welcomed its first long-haul fleet — the Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9. Following Lufthansa’s withdrawal of investment, the company became fully independent and established Hanoi Aviation Joint Stock Company.
- July 2018
Becoming FlyHanoi
Celebrating its first anniversary at 800 members, the airline was rebranded FlyHanoi — a broader vision for expansion and long-term development.
- July 2019
Preparing for transformation
After three years of operation, FlyHanoi suspended its activities, closing the company’s first era and clearing the way for a complete strategic transformation.
- March 2020
The Vietnam Airlines era
The organisation was restructured and launched HKQGVN | Vietnam Airlines on Roblox under the newly established Vietnam Airlines Corporation — a new era of national branding, professional operations and large-scale community building.
- December 2020
First community milestone
Vietnam Airlines reached 500 members, proving out the transformation strategy.
- September 2021
One thousand members
The community passed 1,000 members, becoming one of Vietnam’s fastest-growing RO-Aviation organisations.
- December 2021
The birth of lotusSkies
lotusSkies was officially established. At the same time Hanoi Aviation Joint Stock Company was reorganised into Lotus Corporation, laying the foundation for a diversified aviation group.
- February 2022
Two thousand members
Vietnam Airlines passed 2,000 members, strengthening its position in the Vietnamese Roblox aviation community.
- September 2022
Vietnam’s largest RO-Aviation airline
Vietnam Airlines concluded its operations, and lotusSkies became the largest airline in Vietnam’s RO-Aviation community — the start of a period of innovation, stability and industry leadership.
- May 2023
Three thousand members
lotusSkies reached 3,000 members, among the largest and most active RO-Aviation organisations in Southeast Asia.
- January 2024
Expanding the portfolio
AirVietnam transferred the Juunior brand to lotusSkies. Juunior became the Group’s dedicated low-cost airline, beginning the multi-brand strategy.
- September 2024
The return of JetHanoi
The historic JetHanoi brand was reacquired from Australian investors — preserving one of Vietnam’s earliest RO-Aviation legacies and bringing the airline back under Vietnamese ownership.
- February 2025
Strategic consolidation
Heritage Air and Vietstar Airlines merged into lotusSkies, strengthening the Group’s operations, widening the route network and reinforcing its place as Vietnam’s leading RO-Aviation airline.
- May 2025
Vision 2030
lotusSkies launched its 2025–2030 Comprehensive Transformation Program — restructuring, digital infrastructure, service excellence, brand modernisation and international expansion. The largest transformation in the company’s history.
- January 2026
Building the lotusSkies Group
AirHanoi joined the Group through a strategic merger as its regional airline. With lotusSkies as the full-service carrier, Juunior as the low-cost airline and AirHanoi serving regional markets, the three-airline strategy was complete.
- Today
Looking toward the future
lotusSkies continues as Vietnam’s leading RO-Aviation organisation — committed to innovation, professionalism and sustainable growth, and still investing in technology, talent and the future of virtual aviation across Southeast Asia.
